What is the meaning of ‘Plearnwan’?
Plearnwan is derived from a combination of the English words 'Play and Learn', together with a Thai word ‘Wan’ that means yesterday.
We gave it this name because we wanted Plearnwan to be a place where everyone can play out the lifestyle of earlier times, and in playing can learn some of the history, ritual, culture, and arts of living of that period
Pleanwan is a place for playing and learning the past in order to bring it to life for new generations.
Core Competency
The core of doing business of Plearnwan is ‘Supporting’. Plearnwan wants local people to benefit from the establishment of Plearnwan. Local people can come and join us by selling their products, services, foods, drinks on our site: we provide a space for them. We promote the place in order to attract tourists for them. We create on-going events in order to maintain everyday traffic for them. We want local people to know that we care for them and want them to be a part of our venture. We do not intend to seize their profit and take over their business.
Nowadays, there is little space for footpath merchants. Even the small retail businesses that are unique to the Thai lifestyle, from   one generation to another are rarely to be seen.
Plearnwan offers local people an opportunity to do business as they did in the past.
In addition, we are concerned for the comfort and wellbeing of handicapped people - that’s why we provide convenient facilities for them such as elevators and wide pathways, not just for tourists but also for local small traders.
